Does the Apex FSS trigger kit work with MPs with thumb safeties?  I might buy an MP45C tomorrow, and I would prefer the safety, but I know I want the FSS.  Searches don't tell me anything, and the Apex website says it works with "all MP models," but I remember reading somewhere that safety models aren't supported.  Can anyone who has a safety model MP and uses Apex confirm for me please?

Also, my LGS has it for $559, but the biggest gun show in Texas is next weekend, does anyone know what they're going for at gun shows?

Thanks.

Excellent, thank you.  I went to the LGS and bought it.  Ordered the polymer FSS today, along with some Talon grips.  Can't wait to shoot it.

The kit came in today.  That was some fast shipping, I ordered it on Sunday.  I'd watched plenty of videos and read some guides, so I was prepared for a shitty installation experience.  I'd read that I would have to use penetrating oil, or an overnight freeze on the rear sight.

I set up my vise, and taped some rags to the jaws to prevent slide damage.  Right before I put the slide in the vice, I thought I better try laying it on a roll of duct tape first, just in case I could avoid the vise.  I put my steel punch on the rear sight, and gave it a medium whack.  The sight flew right out on the first strike.  Sweet!  That set the tone for the rest of the install.  I didn't lose any parts, and everything went back together easily.  I didn't even have to adjust the trigger bar loop!  I got lucky.

The trigger is perfect now.  Anyone who is on the fence about getting one, I hereby add my recommendation to all the others out there.  I decided to try the heavier trigger spring first, and I'm glad I did.  It's just right.  I don't know why S&W doesn't just ship the pistols with this trigger, or at least the DCAEK.  It's ridiculous.  I also undercut the trigger guard, which gave me just enough room to keep my pinky on the frame with the smaller magazine base plate installed.  I've got some Talon grips in the mail, and I suspect that once I get them installed, this pistol will be perfect.

I can't wait to shoot it.  I'll start saving now, and maybe by this time next year I'll have enough money to buy another 200 rounds of .45ACP, if it hasn't been banned by then.

Lucky.  After pounding the crap out of my sight, no luck.  I had to get a sight pusher... which I guess is a tool I should own anyways.

Anyways, that is great your install went well.

We are all counting down the days until S&W buys up the patents, rights or APEX entirely so they can start delivering pistols with those triggers out of the box.  They would have the best striker fired pistol on the market even if they increased the price $100 to offer that entire APEX kit installed.

My only complaint about Apex (and it's more of a misunderstanding than an actual complaint) was that they completely didn't cover installing the new trigger on the Shield. I finally got the trigger in and the whole Apex package in without much fuss.

They have install videos on their website.
