I am thinking of sending one of my Hi-Powers to ARS for some smithing. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion to share regarding thier experiences with ARS.

Also , any other reasonably priced smiths to recommend.

thanks

T

Ps. also any indication of turnaround time and waiting lists. I checked with Cylinder and Slide and at that time the waiting list was like 8 months

Don Williams at Action Works has a good reputation in the HP field.

I second Don Williams.  Prices are fair and turn around time seems a bit faster than other comparable smiths.

I have used Mark @ ARS for a few things in the past and have always been happy with his work.  But unless he is local to me I would ship it to a smith that specificly works on these types of pistols.  I would recommend Novak's (not a long wait) or Ted Yost if you have a year or so to wait.

jim garthwaite is also a premier HP smith - he did one of mine, suberb!  ranks right there with my Yost and Novak
