Hi Guys,

I recently ordered one of these to try out and I am having a hard time reaching the advertised capacity.  I ordered the +6 model for the Glock 17 mag and I can only get 19 rounds into the magazine.  Anyone know what might be wrong?  The first 19 rounds go in pretty easily, but I hit a wall once I try to put # 20 in.

Also, what experiences do users have with the Arrendondo extensions?  Is it something you would trust in a self defense situation?

Well, no personal experience with them (hell yes, want to try a coupe out one of these day!), but Dave Sevigny swears by them, and I've seen folks here and elswhere who use them and report they're good to go.

I'd use one for defense, if the mag it was on ran reliably.  I do know they're well designed.  I trust my Glock factory +2s on G17 mags, I'd trust those too if they ran well for me.

Sorry I can't help much, not sure why more rounds won't go in..........obvious first response would be "is it installed correctly?".  First thing I would look at.

They work great for race guns.  It might stick out too far for carry though.

While I don't use their mag extensions, I recently switched to their
+10 springs in my 45acp and 10mm mags with +2 extensions.  What a difference!  My stock
springs didn't quite have the push to ride the follower up to the top
of the mags after I added the extensions to my
G20/21L.  The Arredondo springs sit the followers fully at the top of
the mag and that extra height really aids in feeding.  I'm a believer.

As far as I can tell, they can't be installed incorrectly.  I put the magazine spring in the exact same way the old one came out of a brand new stock Glock mag.  Then I slide the extension housing over the top of the mag (it can only go on one way).  After that I pushed the floor plate in until it clicked in place.  Really, from what I can tell, with the way the magazine and extension are designed, there's only one way to put it together.  I just tested putting an 18th round in a stock Glock mag and with a little effort it went in with less resistance than I am getting trying to put #20 in the Arrendondo equipped mag, which I should be able to put 23 rounds in.

I have some of them for 3 gun and they work great. I can only get 22 rounds into them though. The last few rounds were very hard to get in. I needed the Glock mag loader to do it.

I have six on G17 magazines that I have used many times for 3 gun events and handgun classes. They all hold 23 rounds with the 23rd round being very hard to put in the first half dozen times of so.

Where the ext and the magazine meet (on the inside) sometimes there is a small ledge from the plastic molding process on the ext and the magazine. Sounds like your magazine spring or follower is getting cough up on something around that point on the inside of the magazine tube. If you take the bottom of the extension off and feel the ledge you might want to file it smoother then what it is currently and see if it fixes the issue. I have modified mine all this way because the spring or follower can get stuck there when shooting as well, the rounds will not be fed up because there is not spring pressure (the spring is stuck down). It is a couple minute fix and I would think your problem might be solved.

I have used my six magazines many of times without issue and I would use them in a HD gun, but not a carry gun because they would stick out.
