It's an unmitigated piece of shit and I really do hope you're getting a reach-around for that price.  The MSRP might be that high but I rarely see them selling for more than $375 at stores locally.

I had one and I paid under $400 for it and it was a waste of $400.  The pistol was improperly heat treated which resulted in the slide taking on some very serious wear problems in under 1000 rounds.  Additionally, the slide stop bent at about 200 to 250 rounds, the firing pin mushroomed and got stuck in the firing pin retaining plate at about 600 rounds, the extractor went bad around the 700 to 800 round mark.  Additionally, lets not forget how all the finish wore off the mainspring housing and grip safety and would rust unless you kept the pistol swimming in oil.  The worst part was when I called up auto ordnance to complain about it they told me they'd send me a new pistol, to which I dutifully boxed up my old pistol and shipped it off to them.  However, they put in a new extractor, took out all of the USGI parts I put in it to replace the parts that had originally broke and polished the chamber.  I had to pay for shipping both ways and the "transfer" because my FFL put it in on their books.  Between the low quality product and dishonest customer service I will never purchase another auto-ordnance product again.

Additionally, this was AFTER Kahr purchased A-O as the box contained Kahr paperwork.

If you're looking for a starter 1911 you're much better served getting a Springfield Armory 1911 as that is a much better pistol for the money.

ETA: Oh, forgot to mention that the pistol would never fire a full 7 round magazine reliably.  I couldn't even get Wilson Combat mags to work in it.  There would be at least 1 stoppage every 7 rounds with the most common problem being stove-piping, however after the pistol hit the 450rd mark failure to extracts became more and more prevelant.

Do not purchase that pistol for $469.

If it looked and felt good- I might pay $300 for one to tinker with.

At $598 someone is smoking crack.

Why is he selling it??
