What do you guys think of the BDM? My friend has one for sale with 2 high cap clips (450.00) I was also considering the Glock 17 or a Baby-Eagle 9mm.

Any suggestions?

The BDM was about as slim a gun as was ever made. It has a really ambidextrous grip, adjustable sights, easy takedown, the ability to be either DA or TDA, great pointability and great accuracy. Good shooter and great for carry.

With two hi-caps? I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Good luck finding any more under $100 though. 10 rounders can be had anywhere at a decent price still.

IMO, one of the best DA, double-stack 9mms ever made for those of us with smaller hands.  I had several come though my hands when I was a dealer - it's one of the few guns that I didn't keep one of for myself, and I really regret that now (I believe their prices have increased considerably since then).

(FWIW, if you buy it and want another magazine, e-mail me - I've got an extra left, never used, & you can have it for $80 shipped (what it cost me).  BUT, you have to promise to call it full- or standard-capacity instead of "high-capacity" (a liberal, anti-gun term which far too many folks use without realizing the implications) and you have to promise to call it a magazine instead of a "clip" (for so many reasons...).  )

Bottom line:  Excellent 9mm pistol, decent price IMO. - I stand corrected, below - Bob knows a whole lot more about current market value than I.  I based my statement on what I had bought/sold them for in the past (admittedly several years ago) and what I had heard about them appreciating considerably - apparently they have not.

$450 is too high, IMO. $300-350 would be a better price for you, IMO.

Heck, for $450 you can buy most good guns NIB.

Or, you could get a High Power.

I handled the BDM today (nice balance and so SLIM). I also saw an Argentine HP. Are these any good?

The Argentine models have a good rep but I've not shot one. Or you could buy a used real High Power?

Bobcole,

You are correct. I should find another Hi-power. I never see them on consignment at the shows or shops I frequent. I really miss the hp I bought back in 1990. It was tight. One of my friends has a practical model two tone. It looks great but is just to fat for my hands and it does not have the feel of my old MkIII.

A good source for used guns is "Gun List" newspaper. Good luck!

BobCole, why is $450 with two 15 round magazines too high? I am curious. The pistol was clearanced out by CDNN at $269 and the 15 round magazines go for about $100 apiece. My BDM is the second most accurate 9mm I own. What is more accurate? My Walther P88 but it cost me one hell of a lot more than what I paid for my BDM. Regards, Richard :D

Not to imply the gun is a POS or anything, but old fashioned supply & demand. No one really bought many & that's why they're no longer made, thus the price shouldn't be what a NIB Glock goes for, IMO.

What will they be worth next year when the AW ban goes away, eh? $20? $10? Who knows?

Rhetorical question, I'm sure.

Bob,

Not to argue with you or anything (as I stated above, I bow to your knowledge of current market value), but if the gun never sold very well & is now out of production isn't there a very good chance there won't be enough demand for anyone to bother making high-quality (let alone factory) 15-round magazines for this pistol again?  If that is the case, it is entirely likely that the market value of existing 15-rounders for this particular pistol will NOT go down (as those for current production models are almost sure to do).  My understanding is that it is a proprietary magazine - is that correct?  Anyway, just the way I see it...

Sure there is, but companies like Mec-Gar seem to help us out. They make Luger mags, after all, a gun that hasn't been made in over 60 years.

Part of the adventure of to buy or not buy, eh?
