Is it me or are these backstraps just more unnecessary engineering and crap... we have all got along just fine before they came, now they all want to follow suit and add more plastic to our pistols... just build a good solid gun and be done with it.

On the other hand, If I were purchasing a couple hundred firearms for a medium sized police department, swappable backstraps would be a high priority item. This allows you to better fit users from little old Mary to big old Mongo. yea, i could see that. |

What would happen if they only made one glove size?
People would be pissed if they only made gloves/pistols that fit my meaty hands because no two people are alike. Case in point: Look at how many people bitch about the Beretta 92 grip being huge. I think it's fine. That said, it's not a big selling point for me. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

My thought is I couldn't disagree with you more. Different people have different hands. Nobody, not even the saintly John Browning could design a gun that fits everyone without modification perfectly. Now this is where someone will usually jump in and say something like "just find a gun that fits your hand and go with that". Sorry but that's not a satisfactory answer IMO. I feel there are a lot of factors that need to be considered before picking the right gun and to base that decision based solely on how well it fits in your hand could end up being a huge mistake. I would rather be able to pick the right gun based off of other criteria that I find more important and then have the option to easily modify the grip of that gun (if needed) to fit my hand. A well designed grip inserts system helps make that a reality.
By the way, replaceable grip straps really aren't a new. The 1911 has basically had that option for how many decades now? |

no need to get pissy.... i was asking a serious question in a 'humorous' to me way... not every discussion has to be life changing.... I will say that I prefer my glocks how they are and don't think I'd like them as much with movable backstraps. Same thing with the XDs, I prefer my XDs over the XDMs. |

Quoted: As I have smaller hands, I find the interchangeable back straps quite handy. Me too. I just tend to go with guns that already have a "smaller" grip. The Beretta 92 for instance is not too comfortable in my hand. A 1911 or a SIG tends to fit me rather well. I do not like interchangeable back-straps as it just seems like another added part that may break, get lost, etc. |

Replacements are <$5 as well. |

I just think that it is over-complicating the weapon's design and thus do not like it. |
