I need a good belt for carry (in a few months when I can), but can't afford to spend $125 on one specially made for that purpose.  Can anyone reccomend a good quality leather belt closer to the $20 range?

Thanks

You can get a Rafter-S belt for $40. Most regular leather belts cost more than $20.

Wilderness 5 stitch. Brownells carries them. Awesome belt because there are no holes, you just cinch it down. With leather belts I always find one hole too big and the other too small. They run $32 IIRC (that may be lower since I think I get a discount)

+1
Add 2 extra inches if you're going to use a IWB rig.

I ordered a Don Hume belt from Gunners Alley 2 years ago for $40.00.  I got it for free because it was back odered and they forget about my order until I reminded them months later. They sent the belt and a refund check. They have some affordable belts but make sure you contact them to see if they are in stock. I am very happy with the DH belt.

$25 at Gander Mountain.  1 1/2" wide, with a layer of stiff Cordura webbing sewn over a layer of leather.  As stiff as any purpose-made gunbelt for a fraction of the cost and does not scream gun or .mil wannabe like the "instructor" belts.

There's also enough spacing between holes to add one in between to create the perfect level of tightness (which I have done).

The webbing comes in black with black leather ends and Carhartt brown, tan, and dark green with brown leather ends.

Well, since I am military I suppose I'm not a wannabe
plus I only wear it with untucked shirts- nobody ever sees it. I have a very nice Rafter S belt to wear when my belt is visible.
IMO the wilderness belts can't be beat for comfort and is discreet enough unless you're tucking with it. YMMV.

I have one in-bound from the belt man with the plastic insert.  Looks like good stuff!
