Please post your experiences with .22 LR conversions for hte Glock pistols.

I'm interested to hear about how well they have functioned with the ammo specified by the manufacturer, as well as the accuracy you've gotten.

Thanks.

Advantage Arms. PERIOD.

Accuracy is more than acceptable and it runs fine (mine anyhow) with all HV ammo and, most target/plinking ammo when shooting suppressed.

I only have experiance with my AA .22lr kit, but I have been impressed so far. AA says to not use federal ammo, and they are right, it eats almost anything except federal bulk pack. It is more accurate than the 9mm G34 slide it replaced, and is simple and easy to clean.

The only thing that I dont like is that AA does not recomend dry firing except to take the slide off.

I have the AA kit on my 19. Eats the Remington golden 36gr all day, also has no problem with the CCI 40gr mini-mags. It's more accurate than I am. I like shooting at 3/4" dots at 15'. The thing is a blast to shoot.

Advantage Arms and I have over 5K rounds on it and its still asking for more !!!

Its my standard that I shoot those first at the range before going to my .40 as i do the swap there ...

I love it and you should get one !

No one owns a Ciener???

Fixed sights, no last shot slide hold open, but $50 less expensive.

Anyone?

Thank you to all the AA owners who have responded.

Just bought a conversion for my G21 and the instructions say to use Remington Golden Bullets or CCI Mini Mags.  I have used some CCI Stingers because the kit is brand new and occasionally didn't cycle with mini mags.  Anyone have any luck with any cheaper .22 ammo other than what they recommend ??

I save a spent round. Pop it into the chamber and drop the firing pin.
Saves the pinj from impacting the breech face and possibly damaging it.

The only account I ever heard of with a Ciener, was a review posted by some website comparing the two.

The Ciener has a rougher overall finish, and customer service is from Ciener.
The finish may not bother you, and the rough work can/will break in.

If he made one for the G36, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, but I can make replacement parts so CS isn't really needed here... But it would be nice to have.

I think the extra cost of the AA is worth it, but the difference may not be enough to make it worth it to you.

You will either have to count your shots, or hope the firing pin/striker doesn't break.

Ciener is a dick. Gods help you if you have a problem.

Do you dry fire with the Glock slide on.  I think the only disadvantage of AA kits are 10 round only mags, while Ceiner does high-cap mags.  I wish a company like Black Dog would make a high-cap for an AA kit.

I had a Ciener 1911 conversion and lost the barrel lug at about a year.  Unfortunately, I lost the receipt and Ciener is hard ass about their 1 year warantee.  Fortunately, my dealer is a not meticulous guy and just wrote me another receipt.
It was quite accurate.  But I have since replaced it with a Kimber conversion that has much better sights.
When I was shopping for a Glock conversion, everyone said that Ciener Glock conversions were not reliable and I went to Advantage.  It is a nice kit and reliable with full power ammo.  It like Federal Automatch.

You said for a Glock, so AA is the best:

If you had said for an AR, Ciener would be a good choice.

I haven't got to shoot my AA much (one range trip 30 or 40 rounds it was chilly--For you folks in warm states here chilly is between 10-30 before wind chill) IIRC the paperwork in my box said no Federal, PMC(may have only been one type) and no Rem thunderbolts.  Fed did not work rem bulk pack (non tb)did.  Am going to the range monday with a selection of 22lr will try to post aar

I have one of the original Advantage Arms kits from when they first hit the market. They have changed a few things over the years, mostly for the better. Mine will only run with Remington Bulk pack ammo or CCI stingers. I run mine suppressed with an Advanced Armament silencer and it is a lot of fun.

Dry firing a rimfire without a dummy round is not wise. You will peen the barrel.

[#21]
How do you remove the slide without pulling the trigger?
1/12/2008 3:25:30 AM EDT
[#22]
You can't.  The sear is locked into the striker until the trigger is pulled.

[#23]
So you actually have to dry fire the gun. Unless you're supposed to put an expended round in the breach and pull the trigger. Or the few times you dry fire to remove the slide isn't that big a deal.
