OK... I've never owned a 22/45 or any of the Mark I, II, III pistols either (I hate the 'Luger' grip angle).
So... with that admission, I am buying a 22/45 with the rails top and bottom to use with my Gemtech Outback II silencer (yeah, I know- everyone calls them suppressors, but all my Form 4's call'em silencers). I will be using it extensively for raccoon and armadillo assassinations in the dark of night- which is why I want the rails: optics and light. Now, the 2 that I have fired so far had stock triggers in'em and frankly, they sucked. Badly. I want to replace the trigger in mine as soon as I get it and want to know what is the best choice. I'm looking for crisp, no creep, 2-4 lbs pull. Is Volquartsen the go-to trigger for the 22/45 or is there other choices? I want to buy once and cry once. |
| You hit the nail on the head. The Volquartsen trigger is the way to go. You'll want to install their sear and trigger at least. Your probably better off buying one of their accurizing kits. They can be had for around $90 and will contain everything you need to achieve a 2 - 2.5lb trigger with minimal creep and no overtravel. |

I'm going to disagree a little, I just installed a tandemkross hammer bushing, LCI delete and Volquartsen target sear but kept the stock trigger. It made a HUGE difference! The trigger still has a pretty good amount of pre-travel and a little over-travel, but the break is clean and light and the reset is short even with the stock trigger. If I wanted to adjust the pre and over travel then I would get the VQ trigger as well, but I'm happy with it now so I probably won't.
The hammer bushing mod is something I highly reccomend as well, it takes quite a bit of "grit" out of the trigger feel, makes mags drop free and makes takedown way easier (don't have to insert mag to drop hammer etc). P.S. all of the above is from working with a MK III 22/45 Lite, which would be perfect for your intended use. |

What does the modification entail? Got a link to directions to do it? I've found the .22 Long Rifle to be inadequate for killing racoons. Not me... head shots do it every time. Besides, I use 60-grain Aguila SSS rounds. |

This thread shows it pretty well, go to the detail strip instructions and skip the trigger part down to the hammer / sear part. |
