one of the dealer only models peeked my interest, but it says its on the 357 frame. I am a big guy so this doesnt apeal to me.

can someone clarify the difference between these two.

I am a reloader and would like to buid up some of the "ruger only" load through my new purcahse.

For what its worth i have a new vaquero in 45lc and its a little cramped.

If you want to shoot "Ruger Only" loads, the new Vaquero and Blackhawk on the smaller frame are not what you want.  I would also highly recommend getting the Bisley frame.  It handles heavier loads better from what I've read.  I have custom 4-5/8" Blackhawks built by Hamilton Bowen and John Gallagher, both in .45 Colt.  My Bowen Blackhawk has the standard gripframe and the Gallagher gun is a Bisley conversion.

I don't shoot heavy loads since I want to be able to shoot my reloads in every .45 Colt I own, including Open Top and SAA replicas, so they are all pretty much blackpowder specs.  But, what recoil there is, the Bisley manages it better.  When I do load heavy for a hog hunt I'm planning, I'll definately use the Bisley.

Here you go, my .45 Colt Ruger Birdsheads;

Just plan on hanging on tight if you expect to shoot water buffalo-busting rounds.

The first 2 are New Model Blackhawks (which are all large frames) the 3rd is a Flat top 45 which is on the medium frame.

Looks good.  I'm working a deal now with a collector who is selling most of his collection.  I'm working on a package deal for several Blackhawks now.

I have a line on a NIB .30 Carbine Blackhawk.  It's an older dealer's personal handgun that he got from his father, who was a dealer.  Probably an old model.
