So Im over here in Iraq and work at an ECP. We have a few Iraqi workers that carry pistols and we keep them in an arms room at the gate. They get the weapons upon exit from the fob. So we have this one terp who decides to carry a pistol during Ramadan since this is the most dangerous time during the year.

His pistol is a Blow Mini Mod 2003. Looks like a little Saturday night special to me. The cal is 8mm.

So we give this terp his pistol as he is leaving. He gets about 10ft out of the gate and "pop!". I look over and I thought he shot himself. We run over to him and luckily he wasnt hurt seriously. His right hand was a little red but nothing to go to a medic about. The pistol was laying on the ground so I picked it up and cleared it. Looks like a round went off in the chamber out of sequence. The whole magazine minus the body was blown to shit. The mag body was stuck inside the mag well. The rounds were scattered around on the ground too.

I did a google search for the model and only found a few sites that had anything. All were in Russian so Im assuming that is where these are made.

Im not a pistol expert so what could have caused this? Incorrect ammo? There were no markings on the rounds at all. They were plain old lead with no jacket at all and pointed. The pistol on the right side just said 8mm. The rounds he had were certainly smaller than a 9mm. Could also be the pistol. It didnt look like a complete POS but not great either. On the Russian site where I got the picture there was a refrence to $30. Im guessing that is the price for this peice in Russia. Im assuming after making it way to Iraq it probably cost him about 100 or so. Glocks here are 1200US. We have two guys who carry Glock 19's. Theres a few Browning Hi-Powers and a few from a spanish company called Star.

This is a picture off the net and is exactly the pistol in question. Its 6+1.

Certainly looks like a POS. as dangerous as Ramaggedon is, what could one reasonably expect from that in terms of defense?

I think Glock makes it…

Just kidding!!!

I could not make heads or tails of the language that turned up in the searches but one seemed to indicate it was a starter/signal pistol…

Did you notice if it had a rifled barrel?

From the picture it looks pretty nice, typical of pocket pistols past and present.

Hope someone with better language skills can bring us up to speed on this little dandy.

I think that those cheap replica blank fireing pistols that they sold in magazine ads were 8mm. Maybe somebody started makeing ammo that would fit them? That might explain the ammo with no markings.

They were not blanks... Like I said the bullets were pointed with no copper jackets and there were no markings whatsover.

I dont remember if there was rifling or not but Ill check tomorrow when I go on shift. Ill also ask the terp how much he paid for it.

There are a thousand little POS makes and models of worthless pocket pistols available. This looks like a .25acp but apparently is in 8mm(?) (.32 cal or very close)

Your "terp" should sell it and get as far away as he can...it is doubtless a POS. If he keeps it he just may actually believe he has a useful defensive weapon, and try and use it for real...this would NOT be a good idea!

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I didn't mean that his ammo was blanks but that maybe that somebody had either altered blanks into live ammo or made live ammo for a blank gun. Those blank fireing replicas are the only thing that comes to mind in 8mm.(and remember this is only a shot in the dark on my part.)

This picture – apparently from the same website you got the other one from, suggests to me that maybe it’s a tear gas pistol.

My initial reaction also, however a quick check of a Titan photo showed a number of differences.

Surprisingly, it appears to have a loaded chamber indicator.

I’m still thinking tear gas pistol or such (flares, whatever), though it does appear to be a conventional blowback which I’d think would require normal loaded ammo.

How did the gun go off in the first place?  Did he pull the trigger?
