Here's a link to a buddy's M-34 with a cracked slide.  Pistol has about 20K rounds thru it.  Rather scary actually.  My buddy couldnt figure out why his pistol was shooting to the left when it was right on the mag before.  We checked the sights - everything tight and where it was supposed to be.  He handed me the pistol to try and sure enough it was shooting way left fot me as well.  I suggested we take it apart to see if we could find something else amiss and the slide was cracked.  SCARY!!

I have about 70k rounds thru my m-34 and only problem Ive had was a broken extractor at about 23k rounds.  Guess it goes to show you, nobody makes the perfect pistol everytime...

Well, it happens.  Everybody will produce a lemon occasionally, it's the nature of things.  What's important, of course, is how they remedy the situation.

My one experience with Glock's customer service was great, but that was just for a broken recoil spring guide rod, nothing major.

I'd guess your buddy was shooting factory ammo?

I know Glock hates reloads but I can't help but think that my reloads tend to put a lot less stress on the gun than most factory ammo.  I tend to load on the light side as a rule.  No point beating up the gun and myself if I don't have to.

He shots everything from winchester white box  to reloads and occassionally Olympic.  I have several glocks and love em.  But it never hurts to be reminded that anything can brake.  I'm just glad the slide didnt totally brake in half while we were shooting -- Scared me.

Good catch, 4gma!
Who knows how much longer it would have lasted?
That does look like the weakest point to fail at, not that it should have.
Thanks for the link, feel free to follow up with the final outcome.

Talked to my shooting buddy this evening.  Glock should have a new pistol to him by tommorrow.  4 day turn around from delivery on Monday -- Very impressive!

Doesn't shooting reloads void any warranty?

I sent my 17 back for the second time for the same trigger problem. It came back with a new slide on it. Glock said that it was cracked in the breach face area. I never noticed it, but it was always rough with machine marks. I didnt have anywhere near 20000 rounds through mine. They also said "something" was out of spec as to the trigger problem.(it would not "let off", no matter how hard you pulled the trigger) Same answer both times in this respect. I quit using it for anything but targets at that point.

Now that's impossible. Everyone knows that Glock is an infallible design completely immune from defects or problems. Obviously you were using it wrong...

Maybe I should have made a meaner face at it and it would have listened to me better. Thats what I get for babying it, its not a 1911 after all.
