I have a 41 mag pistol, and have bought several types of ammo, and now am buying a Henry 41 carbine, and want to stock up more but I want to stay within a couple of rounds and not have several types..
These are the most common ones I have, is there a couple here that will coverall bases? Deer, hogs (some pretty large) black bear and an concessional mountain lion. One guy even says there is a Big Foot out near his place. From reading online it seems some people think a hardcast is good for everything, and then some that likes a HP for deer and hogs, and the debate goes on.
230 hardcast Keith 1450 fps
265 hardcast flatnose 1350 fps
210 Hornady XTP HP 1560 fps
210 Remingtom HTP soft nose 1300 fps
210 Corbon JHP 1350 fps

I would say the XTP gives you the best of both worlds. It's know to be a sturdy bullet with deep penetration, but will still give you expansion and energy transfer. And since you've got so much mass, even if the bullet fragments a bit it should still get plenty of penetration.

Is this the Underwood load?

Because according to BBTI, the much milder Speer 210gr from a carbine is clocking 1745 fps...The Underwood is likely clocking 1850 from a carbine / 1596 ft.lbs of energy.

I would go with the hardcast personally as it allows for the most penetration for bears or large hogs.
