I picked up used .40 cal Walther p99 that does not appear to have been used much. When I tried " the bullet test", placing a round into the muzzle of the barrel. The round slid into the barrel practically up to the case.Other caliber's I have do not do this. I placed a vernier caliper in the bore of the pistol and it measured .400, ammo measured the same. The barrel does not appear to be shot out. Will have to see how it shoots.

You cannot take these measurements accurately with a vernier caliper.

I've noticed that while the bullet test works with rifles, it seldom works with pistols. I think it has to do with the depth of the rifling.
