Anyone have any experience with the CCF RACEFRAME for Glocks?

Take a look at the ROBAR website and their Extreme Alloy Pistol.  It is a basically a G22 but has a Stainless steel frame and their slide.  Looks interesting.

No personal experience, only read the articles and reviews.  Interesting concept, but academically, I'd say that the steel versions really negate one of the best things about Glocks.........the light weight.  The steel framed G22 I saw reviewed tipped the scales at around 38 oz., I think it was............might as well be a 1911.  A G22 should come in at around 22 oz.

They have an Al version too.........but still not as light as the polymer.

Of course for competition or just general plinking I suppose the extra weight would make it rock steady to shoot.

They have interchangeable backstraps..........some folks will like that.

I handled one in a store a few weeks back.  It looked great, and felt really good with the 1911 backstrap.

My only complaint is the heavy weight.  But it probably makes the 40 kick like a .22.

I'd try one if they were cheaper.

The stainless makes for a heavy pistol. Titanium would have been interesting but I think that idea has been scrapped. The pistols shoot well and trigger pull has been improved due to the rigid frame. I understand though that the longevity of these frames are about 10k rounds and then one of the rear rails breaks. This info came from a factory rep.

10K?!?  Did you mean 100K?  A serious competitor would have to have about three or four of those lying around just for a years use.

I'd like to try one out just to see how it feels.  I'd imagine they'd have very little recoil.  A G34 or 35 slide would be pretty nice for a day at the range.  Maybe a bit too heavy for carry for some though.

Wow, I had no idea about the 10k round wear factor.............damn, that sure puts a damper on the price of them, I think.

I mean yeah, with my budget it would take me years to put 10,000 rnds through one gun, but I'm more than halfway through that with my G23, and I like knowin' it's gonna be around for a long time, even if I shoot the hell out of it.............

Assuming that's true,. that's ignorant. Why would anybody spend that much money on a frame that will only last for 10k rounds? I thought these frames were geared towards serious competitors but for a serious competitor a 10K frame is about worthless?

10K can't be right.

Lots of serious competitors would go through two or three frames a year.

10K can't be correct........Beretta 92FS frame has a life expectency of 35K

I would not question BrianNH's veracity in these subjects.  He doesn't talk unless he knows, and he knows alot.

ETA:  If that's what the factory rep told him, that's what they told him.  I doubt the factory rep would be saying potentially detrimental things like that about the product if they weren't true.

Thanks Vini. Whether this was something specific to the stainless frames which is all we purchased, i do not know. I'm assuming they would fix this under warranty and I will look into it further. I know when I heard of this i was a little put off. There was also another person there when i heard this so i will follow up with them and contact the rep just to be certain.

Please let us know what the Factory Rep says.  I am really curious about this now.  As expensive as these complete guns are from ROBAR it really makes me have second thoughts about building one or getting one if they are not expected to last.

Thanks,
