Colorado laws used to demand that you use only one pistol that was included on your permit.

Do any states still make you register your concealed carry weapon? Or limit you to only one gun.

NY, of course...

On the bright side, I've got all 17 listed, should I feel like CCW'ing my .455 Webley Mk VI...

I can carry anything I'd like here in Utah.

Here in AZ. you register yourself as the carrier of a firearm. You can carry anything you want once qualified and licenced. No weapon is registered.  I can qualify with a .22 pistol and carry a .44 magnum if I want to.

I am a youngsta but I thought the law before was only concealed weapon - you could carry any type of weapon you wanted, chainsaw, grenade, etc.

Or are you talking waaaay back, like 10 years ago.

I got you beat. In Oregon all you have to do is have an NRA guy talk at you and watch a video. You don't need to qualify nothin'. Of course, you have to watch out for fellow CHL holders because of this fact. A friend of a friend who had a CHL was actually frightened when his Glock's slide shut when he released it.

Here in Colorado all we have to do is not be criminals or psychotic.

They fill out the form for you here, just take it and the money order down and get fingerprinted.

In NC, we watch a video, and actually have to shoot.  The target is a life-size sillouhette, shooting 40 rounds from 7 yards. The instructor counts the holes and as long as you have 36 holes in the paper (not even on the sillouhette, just anywhere on the paper), you pass.  If you don't, have 36, you can do it over, moving closer if neccessary.  The guy two spots down from me got exactly 36, all over the paper.  The instructor got to mine and it was mostly one jagged hole where the head had been.  He shook his head and moved on.  We can carry anything, as long as it is a handgun.  You can qualify with anything as well, and many of them used a .22 for the target portion.

In Pa we only have to apply and wait for a background check. No classses, no fingerprints, no "qualifying", no telling them what you will be carrying. And it costs less than $20 for a 5 year permit.

TN used to restrict it to only guns in two calibers & it listed it on your license too. Now, copying other states, we carry whatever we want in any caliber.

Ya'll should move to a free state.

I have got to know, what were the two calibers?

BTW, in Colorado you have to have proof of handgun training. I just took the NRA basic handgun course. The wife did outshoot me, but she was using a .22 Buckmark and I tested with my planned carry .40 S&W.

Is it true in Texas that if you test with a revolver, you can only carry wheelguns?

TN used to restrict it to .38spl & 9mm.

Yes

You must qualify with 38, 380 or greater.  If you qualify with an auto you can carry anything that you can conceal.  If you qualify with a revolver you must carry revolvers.  Once you qualify you can carry any calibre or any amount of handguns you desire as long as they are concealed.

In NM, you qualify with the caliber (and action -- revolver or autoloader), but the gun is not registered.  My neighbor and I are going to pool our handguns and qualify with everthing from a .22 auto to a .44 revolver.

How in the world did I forget about that PITA.

You know I don't remember anyone moving INTO New York in the decades when we had a less restrictive CC system than a lot of states, until the late 80's and early 90s changed their laws-funny how all those Texans did not stand up for their rights by moving out of the state prior to 1995...

Oh and I have to list all my handguns on my permit but didn't have to take any course or test here in NY, thought that varies by county and I think has changed since I got my permit.

You know, Aimless, I think things are changing.  I credit the internet with people being more aware of (and interested in) gun rights.  Personally, when I got out of grad school and was looking for jobs, gun laws were a big factor in my search.  I passed up positions in Berkeley and Long Island for one in NM because it's class III friendly and has shall-issue CCW.

I honestly believe that GCA 68, for example, would have faced a lot more opposition with today's online community of gun nuts.

True enough. In Georgia, they don't even ask you  if you have a firearm.  :)
