Have you ever used your CCW? -
What was the situation? Did you get your firearm back? |

I've twice put my hand on mine and yelled verbal commands, "STOP"! Both times the two guys, and the one guy (two situations) took off. Never underestimate how easy it is to break the mindset of someone who is already doubting themselves. in the first situation they didn't display weapons, he reached to his 4 oclock under a basketball jersey and was looking around like a crazy person when I reacted. The second situation he had his hand jammed in his coat pocket, not sure if it was a weapon but at the least he was trying to strong arm rob me/"sell" me what he called rock so I asssume crack. He was pushing forward in his pocket to either mimic a gun, or he had a gun, either way it scared the hell out of me so I responded because I took him seriously and we were on an empty street and I didn't want to risk dying there.
I've never been confronted openly by a gun. I do credit my situational awareness because if any of the three guys, in the two separate situations, had gotten the drop on me I doubt it would have turned out peacefully for any involved, or I simply could have been killed. It can happen anywhere, anytime. My mother works in a school, and was there the day, a gunman came in and shot at students and shot a teacher before being tackled. This is a nice, upper class community, no one "expected" it. When someone says, "youre only running to the store" you dont need your gun. Ignore that person. If you know where the bad things are going to happen, please share it with the rest of us so we can all avoid the situation. I'm a 6'4, 283 pound white male. I lift weights, im not claiming to be jacked but I never thought i'd be the guy picked for a street robbery. Just because you feel safe doesn't mean you are. Be smart, be safe, and carry on. |
