For those of you who have bought some of the recent Israeli hi powers from AIM and the hi powers that CDI has on GB, which is the better buy? I will plan on refinishing it at some point with either.
I'm leaning toward the AIM hp at this point. Place holder for an AIM Surplus one! Couldn't wait any more |
| I bought one from the last batch from AIM and was pleased. Mach1 is the importer and they list some in various conditions on GB as well. If I were buying another one, I would buy from Mach1 given you can see what you are getting. Based on a few recent posts, the ones AIM are selling seem to be in a little rougher shape than the last batch. |

You made the right choice, I just checked and CDI is down to only 15 of them, all but a few are beat or mismatched. I would say go with his, as they are not import marked, but the current selection sucks.
Last year and the year before he had at least 10 pages worth of them, I looked through them all and found 2 perfect ones |

What's surprising to me is that it looks it was both carried a lot and shot a lot. You usually only see external wear on police trade ins, but this one was definitely shot quite a bit too. Rails and other wear areas are very shiny in addition to the exterior of the gun being beat up. None of it looks abnormal or like it was abused... only wear on the parts that you would expect to see wear. |

Coles' inventory of High Powers is way below historical norms, for sure. However he is known for going MIA over the Christmas holidays so maybe he just doesn't have much listed at the moment. Or, he could just be out. He does have a metric crap-ton of the high-cap Browning and Beretta 380's, however, if for some reason somebody would like one of those bricks.
A quick look thru of the CDI offerings on Funbroker at this exact instant turned up a gem or two in the older C&R guns, which wouldn't be of much interest for anybody looking for a working gun. But he did have this pretty nice Mk II, listed as a Mk III. I'd agree with anybody who said the Mk II sights aren't quite as nice as the Mk III but they're still a lot better than the skinny pre-Mk II sights and even with my old eyes are still usable. Were it's twin not locked up in the safe right now, I'd be severely tempted. Mk II listed as Mk III here Coles' don't have the huge billboard import marks on them, so there's that for ya. |

Great looking pistol. |
