I'm looking at buying one. My question is for the guys that have one in 9mm. I have read every review on these weapons I could find and as usual the more you read the more confused you get.  Options on CCW with red dot. I carried a G17 and a shield now. Would like to carry a red dot.. I know it's not the best CCW weapon, just an option if I chose to do so.  How do you guys really feel about having a red dot on your weapon, does it make that much of a difference. I mean I want a honest option on these weapons using a red dot. The red dot I'm interested in is the RMR. I heard the CORE comes with discount coupons for these sights, how much of a discount. Thanks for any info.

I don't have a CORE, but I do have a G17 with an RMR (RM02).  I wouldn't hesitate to carry it.  In fact, if I had a concealable holster it would fit in I would be carrying it (the front sight hangs up on my MTAC slide holster).  Up close it MIGHT be a little bit slower on the first shot, but from there on I'm faster with the RMR vs. iron sights.  The RMR is also becomes much faster/easier than iron sights as distance increases.  The only real down side to me is cost.  The RMR cost more than the G17 did.

I had my M&P slide milled way before it was cool.  I put on a Deltapoint because that was the recommendation at that point - I tried an RMR and a Deltapoint side by side and found the RMR more difficult and slower to track, but more precise at longer distances.  I like the Delta's big reticle window and large triangle.

Anyway, I CC it.  It isn't an issue - I have had to modify some retention holsters, but my RCS Phantom didn't need adjustment.

If only the pistol had good accuracy at 25 yards, which is why I went with the optic.  I have a 2010 production and barrel.  The thing patterns past 15 yards.

MSW has a review of the core and using it for CCW...  and he doesn't value it too highly.  He references the lack of boss points for the RMR/Delta/other RDS as an issue, because it puts more shear stress on the screws.  That was what I was told when I had my slide milled as well - it has boss points for the optic to reduce shear on the screws.  I have no problem using the optic while sling-shotting the slide forward - it's awesome.

Realistically?  If you loctite, mark 'em up with a paint-pen, and they don't shift, what is the real issue?  Use good screws and it probably isn't a massive issue.
