After 650 rounds with no problems my CW9 now fails to fully chamber a round about once ever two magazines fired. Any ideas?  I'm going to stop carrying it until I get it 100% functional.

Assuming everything is cleaned and lubed properly. Have you tried switching ammo to see if the problem follows?

Is the failure on the same mag every time?

Is your recoil guide rod spring in good condition?

Is there excessive carbon build up under the extractor or on the barrel lock-up?

Most of the ammo was Miwall reloads while trying others.
I numbered the mags, thourgly cleaned the carbon and checked the guide rod, (which is rough).
I ran 150 rounds or Remington 115 g FMJ through it with out any malfunctions. For the cause I'm leaning toward dirty ammo and carbon on the extractor.

I have run thousands of rounds of Miwall reloads through my other nines, (KelTec P11, Sig 226 and CZ75B) with out problems, but it is rather dirty. I will keep buying it but will hand load for the Kahr.

Thanks for the ideas...I did not think of the extractor.

I think I would get a new set of wolffs 10% extra strength magazine springs and install a new set of recoil springs and oil the hech out of the slide and I will bet it will be good to go.You may brag on ur reloads but if the weapon functions with new factory ammo, then one has to assume it is the reloads, does't matter if they work in another handgun or not..FWIW

u ought to be able to clean the extractor and the extractor chamber by using some of the high pressure gun cleaners and just blowing any debris out of there, and a good gun brush scrubbing on the face of the slide and the extractor, should get it right.  I have over 8200 flawless rounds through my pm9 and have never taken the upper slide apart, as I can blow clean with those cleaners the firing pin area and extractor area, and that little hole on the bottom of the slide enable one to blow clean the firing pin area without any dissembly, and also is a good lube hole to. Just a drop is all that is needed. When i can put the nozzle of the spray cleaner in the front of the firing pin hole or in the front of the extractor area and blow it and fluids come out the back of each area. then i know I am cleaning it.  I don't buy that expensive gun scrubber stuff. Go to napa and buy the non cholorinated high pressure brake cleaner for about $2 bucks. works perfect, dries instantly and probably is the same as the $8 gun scrubber stuff. Sure works good for all of my handguns..
