The only firearm I sold and missed enough to have to get another. There a very good shooting carbine, that are light, handle well, are ambi friendly with a leftside ejection option, have a very accurate chromelined barrel and are very reliable too.

The only problem I ever had with my last one was with a guide rod snapping once, but there a cheap replacement part and it doesn't hurt to have spares. The nice thing though now there's someone who makes a steel replacement for them and I need to put an order in for one.

It's a beautiful thing to have pistols that run the same mags with them and the CX4 and a pistol make a great home defense rig. There short enough overall to move in tight spaces and they only weigh about 6 1/4 lbs loaded.
With the front rails you can mount a side sling attachment and have a good patrol sling setup with the rear dualsided sling loop.

I never mounted my other one with a Aimpoint on the top rail even though I had it, but it's perfect for optics and I'd like to put an Aimpoint Micro on the one I have now.
I guess my opinion of them is pretty good.

I was thinking of getting one and trading in my Ruger Police Carbine (Roll Marked) with those words in the very first batch made but at about $700 up here in my area is real pricey.I am thinking the fact the Ruger is no longer made and I have one of the real originals and not the PC 9 named ones it is worth more and will call up the shop and see

I've got one in 9mm. Put about 2500 rounds through it so far, without a single problem.
Only bad thing about it is the trigger. It's pretty terrible but can be cleaned up a bit.

I'm really interested in one also. Chambered in 9mm. I wonder how the ballistics compare to a 9mm pistol with a 4" barrel? Are you going to see significant improvements in accuracy and velocity, or just a little bit?

It would be way cheaper to shoot than the AR, thats for sure. Light to carry. What about as a SHTF gun? small, light, easy to find the ammo? Or is this just crazy talk from me now?

It was a gun magazine if I remember right that did some velocity difference testing a while back and made a nice chart on it. I couldn't find it again though.
I remember though that different ammo gave different results, but every round had more velocity out of the CX4 compared to a pistol and the most was close to 400 extra fps from what I remember.

As far as accuracy unless your a 1 inch group shooter at 25 yards with a pistol already that translates into pretty damn good extra accuracy you can get with a CX4 and I haven't met the shooter who couldn't make one hole groups with it at 25 yards and slightly bigger holes out to 50.
I'm not looking to blow smoke when I say I'm a good shot with a pistol compared to many other people, but the CX4 makes that shooting pathetic comparatively for the same distance.

Using quality 9mm defensive ammo which I like Federal +P 124 grain EFMJ's, I'm more than comfortable using it to defend out to about 125 yards which makes it a very good shtf home defense/CQB rifle to me and I've gotten 4 inch groups at a 100 with it.

I always have my 92FS ready for home defense if I need it but the CX4 is just an excellent multiplier to grab quick to go with it if things do get nasty, that not having it just isn't worth it for me.
If things get really nasty I'll grab one of my M1A's, but the CX4 is always there and a great rifle for my other family members to use besides.

Thanks, that's some pretty good info. I'm thinking with all that polymer and the self-contained nature of the action, you could probably toss the thing around quite a bit w/o any problems.

if you could get up to 400 fps extra velocity w/ it in 9mm, you could see something like 1600-1700 fps, which is pretty damn zippy. Man, this is looking better all the time. I can buy 100 rounds of 9mm right now for $16, and 100 rounds of .223 for about $37....

I don't know if I'd go throwing it around for fun, but the polymer can take a hit and bounce back just like other polymer frames and there's no finish to wear.

The ammo cost is a blessing to me and I used to shoot my old one more than any other rifle as not only is it cheaper on ammo but you can shoot it at any pistol range too where I have to travel further and spend more to shoot my other rifles so I just can't afford them the same.

It is zippy in FPS and when you look at it with using quality defensive ammo it's a nice little carbine for defense that with it's short, light, ergonomic friendly, ambidextrious design that lets you get a great sling setup with a forward sling attactment on one of the side rails that can be added, it's a very good little modern defensive carbine choice.

Nice to have the same ammo/mags for both.
9mm is still pretty cheap too.
