380 auto < 9mm Makarov.

Get the CZ82.  If you don't have a C&R, you can still get it for a decent price though a FFL.

If you really like the 380 caliber then yes go for it as it's an excellent pistol esp. for the price.

Its a nice pistol.  I too though agree that given the current price of the CZ 82s and the fact that the 9x18 is a bit more powerful, that is the better way to go now.  My 82 is my daily carry pistol.  Were they not available, I would get an 83.  The deal of the year is going to be these 82s.

Where do you recomend finding a CZ82? I have local places that stock the 83's but have not seen any 82's.

Many on line dealers have the 82 on sale now. Classic Arms is an excellent C&R Dealer.

I prefer the slightly more powerful mak caliber myself. Cheap to shoot too!

I got one 82 in near mint condition. And that is saying something as their cheap black paint finish is easily marred. (The finish is the only thing I don't care for. But for $200, it's a bargain.) I got another that had some marks in the paint from storage. But was unfired.

Pic of the minty one next to the other that refinished with deep blue GC over park.

The refinished one is now a carry pistol.

Pluses:
Super smooth DA trigger. Very good SA trigger. Just has a bit of creep but then breaks cleanly.
Three dot sights are great.
Very accurate. Polygonal rifling has an advantage here. Easier to clean too.
Chrome lined bore.
Excellent ergonomics and comfortable to shoot.
It's the hi-cap "Cadillac" of Maks.
Excellent CZ quality.

Minuses:
Cheap black paint finish. Easy enough to refinish if you like.

I still can't believe the 82 is a C&R as it has very modern features. It's like a gift from the BATF to us C&R holders!

I also own a CZ83 made in '03 with a nickle finish in Mak caliber. It's almost too nice to shoot so I have it put away.

CZ makes a great pistol!

The nearest 82 looks great! Where did you find the wood grips? And what else did you do to it?

Bought mine from AIM - love it.  Shoots good and is very reliable.  It's my car gun, which is saying a lot for me - I travel as part of my sales job - all of the time and this is my primary self defense piece.

Good enough for that, inexpensive enough that if it get's stolen, I'm not out a lot.

The grips came from this vendor;

The grips and refinishing are all I did or want to do to it. It's my almost daily carry pistol. Have about 400 rounds through it at the range for practice now too. It is simply close to a perfect pistol for me. Mechanically excellent. functionally flawless. Line up those three dot sights and whatever you cover with the center dot is going to get hit. Super smooth DA trigger and a very good SA trigger. Ambidextrous mag release and safety. Comfortable to shoot too thanks to the excellent grip.

My hands down favorite pistols are my CZ82's/83 (Both mak caliber.) and my XD45s.
