| I just saw a listing for a new CZ40P today. It appears to be similar to the CZ40B but with a decocker instead of a safety and a more CZ75 shaped grip. Anyone actually seen or handled one? Oh yeah it also had a light rail too. If the grip is the same size as a CZ75 compact it would probably push me over the edge and I'd have to buy one. |

The CZ 40P is basically the marriage of CZ 40B slide to the receiver of the CZ 75 P-01. Limited production to use up the excess slides manufactured for the CZ 40B. It's accurate, more so than the CZ 40B is for me. I was quite surprised at how much more accurate the 40P was. Good deals available. You should be able to find one in the $300 to $320 range. I picked one up even though I'm going to be getting one of the CZ 75 Compact .40s when they come available, hopefully, after the turn of the new year. -- Mike |
| I love it! Especially since only about 1500 will be made. Try and get a limited production model from HK or Sig for $300! The recoil seems a little snappy and the DA trigger is a little long but thats probably just because I am transitioning from a MkIII High Power in 40 S&W and am used to perfection. Really impressed with it. Its the first CZ I have owned and may cause a new trend in my pistol buying. |

I will be adding a full length guide rod to my 40P within the next month or so alone with a 20 or 22 lb recoil spring. The full length guide rods are available from JackAsh Custom Shop. Haven't done business with 12 Volt Man yet, but looking forward to doing so. That 20/22 recoil spring should make that slide draw back like the Mk III. :) -- Mike |
Welcome to the Dark Side, my son... may the CZ be with you! |

I was going to order a used SIG from CDNN (either a 228 in 9mm or 229 in 40S&W) and, after reading this thread and looking at the J&G ads for the 40P, decided to order one of those instead. I think CZs are great and this was new, came with 2 mags, and cost about $100 less than a used SIG. It should be here tomorrow! Ken |

Well, here is my range report: I'm a bad shot! It was 15 degrees out and I was shooting at some frozen pumpkins (they explode when not frozen but not when frozen). I couldn't hit much of anything. Tried some MFS Hungarian +P and it seemed to be shooting low and would not hold the slide back on the last shot. Switched to some CCI Blazer and was still low but the slide would stay open on the last shot. Ideas? The Hungarian stuff SEEMED to have a bit more kick but, I'd think, if the slide didn't stay back on the last shot, wouldn't that mean it had less power? I need to play some more but when it's a bit warmer. Ken |
