I have settled on 9mm, budget allows new CZ75, or a used S&W 5906..but I could hold out and move up to a Beretta..These are the handguns that seem to fit my large hands...My first hand gun...any advice?

That CZ is a fine handgun and the bore center is low, closer to the hand, to me that seems to better reduce muzzle flip. I have two CZ type pistols (EAA Witness) in 9mm and 40s&w. I think the authentic CZ's are supposed to be better quality than the witness.

My last handgun purchase was a CZ75BD.  I think it was money well spent.  I don't have any serious complaints, just a couple minor nitpicks.

The trigger reach is awful long.
The decocking lever could stand to be dehorned a little bit.
Some folks complain about the grips but I think they are comfortable and perfectly functional.  Fancy wood grip stocks would look kind of funny with that black enamel finish, besides.

It didn't like my lead 147 grain reloads at all. It fed them OK but was all over the taret. It was much more accurate with the S&B 115 grain FMJ.

I had a couple FTF's with it when breaking it in.  It's still new, I haven't had more than about 200 rounds through it.

The 5906 isn't a bad gun.  But for the money, I'll take the CZ - every time.

I like my 92FS very much, but.....

I've own a SIG-228 & 226, and both were good guns...

But, with my CZ-75b I've gotten the best groups...
I believe it's because of what Skid2964 mentioned - Low bore center...

Because of the lower recoil(muzzle flip), I've been able to reacquire center target quicker...

When speed (competition) shooting, I was able to hold my own with the best of them...

I'm thinking of buying a CZ-P01...

I Picked up a CZ75D PCR last year.  Other then my two BHPs, I like this better than any 9mm I have ever shot.  At the range, it just goes, and goes, and goes.  13 round mags, great accuracy, total reliability, and good looks.  Who could ask for more?
