Every once in a while my CZ-75B, which I bought used, will fail to eject.

It happens about once every couple hundred rounds. It's always the same type of jam, with the empty wedged between the top inside of the slide and the round feeding from the magazine, the cases essentially parallel.

I also have an SP-01 and I have never had a problem with it, so I don't think it's just me.

Any suggestions?

What ammo are you using?

WWB and Winchester cases can give certain CZ's fits because the extractor groove is not as deep. This, and the extractor design can cause issues with some pistols.  You can either blow out the gunk behind the extractor with spray, or if it is really annoying, contact CZ-USA and get a new extractor.

This was a regular factory WWB value pack round.

It also occasionally happens with my own reloads which are mostly Winchester casings.

You can take a file and make the notch on the extractor a bit deeper so it can engage the extractor groove of the Winchester cases, or ask CZ-USA if a new extractor will help.

I'm wondering if an "extra power" extractor spring might be in order. I can easily move my CZ's extractor with my finger. Can't do that with many other guns.

When I get a new to me/used firearm, usually the first thing I do is order new springs for it. No telling what condition they are in. You should probably do the same.....

My CZ had this problem after about 2k rounds.  Go with new wolff recoil spring and you will likely solve the problem.

If it is surface hardened, it will break where you file it.  A gun plumber hacked my extractor on a 1911 I owned.  It broke the first time I used it.

Get an extra power extractor spring:

Extractor Springs - Extra Power

Extra power extractor springs are available to correct extraction problems common in the CZ-75/85 series pistols - all calibers.  Wolff springs are approximately 25% stronger than factory springs.  quote]

I had the same problem with WWB. A high power extractor spring from czcustom.com fixed it. Went through 300 rds of WWB last weekend with no problems.

I'm going to put a crapload of WWB as well as a variety of reloads through it when the new spring comes in....let you guys know how it works! I have a 15lb recoil spring coming, too.

Installed my XP extractor spring today and also put my 15 lb recoil spring in.

Unfortunately, they came AFTER I returned from the range
.

Update next weekend.

Yes keep us updated. I had the same type of malfunction yesterday during a match with my SP-01 Shadow. It's probably got about 2k rounds through it now so it might be time I replace mine as well.

Well I was only able to fire 34 rounds over the weekend.

18 were my own 147gr. LFP reloads in mixed brass.

16 were WWB 115gr. FMJ.

No malfunctions of any kind to report...hopefully I'll be able to put a substantial amount through soon to get real verification.

Need more proof, but it is looking like the spring did the trick.

Well I just wanted to update you guys. Shot about 120 rounds last weekend with zero issues. I think the spring did the trick.

Will probably make it out to the range again this weekend, I'll let you guys know how it goes again!

Another flawless range trip in the bag. I guess I can consider it fixed.
