Anyone know if an XD9 can be converted to a .40 by swapping barrels? Or does it require a slide, too? |

Quoted: The case of the 9mm is smaller than the case of the .40, so you can not convert a 9mm to a .40 in general unless the slide has a removable breech face. You could put a XD .40 slide on a 9mm frame. I figured as much, but since you can convert a .40 to 9mm I was hoping the extractor on the 9mm had enough throw to grab a .40 rim. |

This is why you can drop a 9mm conversion barrel into an XD40 with 9mm mags and shoot it just fine but not the other way around. You would save more money selling or trading your XD9 for an XD40 and buying a $115 conversion barrel. Then you could shoot 9mm or .40 |
