I sold a Walther PP and the FFL info was for a C&R FFL how can I check to be sure that this gun is C&R elegible also I looked and found some confusing info so hopefully someone can help me before I contact the ATF to verify this. The buyer has a C&R FFL and is from California also I just checked on the ATF site and his FFL# did not show any info do C&R FFL"s check out on the FFL ezcheck web site? where I got confused was this from some searching NO PISTOL or concealable firearm, regardless of C&R status can be ordered from out of state and shipped in, or sold within the state (CA) without going through a Class 01 Dealer FFL. Can someone help me out or am I better off waiting to contact the ATF directly before proceding |
No. Class I FFL's only. As far as I know, I either have to physically send a copy of my C&R, or sned them an "acceptable alternative". I can now send faxed copies or Email a photograph of the original. |

As indicated, C&R's do not come back on the EZ Check. If you question the legitimacy of the license, you can call ATF to confirm the information. I believe they are more then happy to confirm. This was done as a privacy measure for collectors. If my memory serves, there is a number for the licensing center right on the license. California is one of those funny places. I would be hesitant to sent any C&R handgun there. I don't believe you would be subject to any action if you did, but the receiver could very well be, and likely knows that this is the case and figures his chances of being caught are slim. You may want to contact ATF for an opinion on this also. later, AJ |
