Didn't see a thread on the topic, so I thought I'd start one-

Do any of you have carry  /self defense insurance in the event that you are ever involved in a situation where you have to use your carry weapon and /or home defense weapon?

I know there are several different organizations/companies that offer coverage-  Second Call, USCCA, and I think the NRA has a plan also-

Just trying to get a sense of what a good company might be, how you like your plan, etc.

Tons of opinions on this. A attorney relative of mine suggested against it. His opinion was that it is highly unlikely for you to be involved in such an event anyway and if you're clean and it was legal you have nothing to worry about criminally. Civil is another story. Good luck.

Florida "protects"(?) you from civil suits if it's a clean shoot.

I use US Law Shield.  They cover criminal and civil actions against you.  It also is not a reimbursement program like some are.  All costs are already paid.  You lay out nothing.  I keep them mostly in case I ever need civil defense because it seems like even here in Oklahoma, where we tend to believe that criminals are responsible for their own actions, it seems like lawyers will attempt to sue for anything.  $120 a year for peace of mind, money well spent.  They will also cover weapons of "convenience" while you are carrying.  That means if you either can't employ your firearm or it malfunctions and you end up stabbing your attacker with your carry knife or shoot them with their own weapon or something similar you are still covered.
