| Hey guys I just got a job working for walmart and being that I work nights a lot I would really prefer to have ccw on me at all time rather than in my car. So my question is dose anyone else here work for the big W and is it kosher to carry? We weren't given a hand book and I don't want to out myself to personel. |

I've been working at Wally World part time for some extra play money and they made sure to let us know at orientation NOT to carry ANY weapons while on the property, even knives. I do carry a good knife at all times though, just don't use it to cut open any boxes or anything and you'll be fine. But like you, gun has to stay in the car. |
| My company has a policy or maybe it's a had a policy, they used to post signs all over the place about not being on the premises, but now because they have gotten big into manufacturing gun parts. They took all the signs down, some how I think Remington and others would take there business elsewhere if they knew a company they do business with was clearly anti gun, and therefore and anti-them. It's amazing what greed can do, good and bad. I still don't carry at work, we have security locked doors and there are plenty of exits, places to hide, and things to use as weapons the way it is. If a gunman breaks through the door I'm finding the nearest exit and waiting for law enforcement a long way away, or with my gun in the car. |

You will be fired on the spot if made, but it’s worth it. I’d carry a pocket or ankle gun and be veeeeeery discreet.
In Columbia, MO a Wal-Mart employee was shot in the back returning to work after a break. No reason for it, kids just wanted to shoot someone it appeared. |

There appears to be a lot of people in this forum unaware of how business works. If caught with a firearm, this goes in their employment records with a big red flag. Best case, they follow the rules and just say 'the individual is not a candidate for rehire' when someone calls (and they will call) to check references. To an HR person, that means "do not under any circumstances hire this person". If they don't follow the rules and the Wally HR person tells someone checking the reason he was fired, then he sure as hell isn't going to get hired. This will happen with every single reputable company he applies to. The world is interconnected. If you break this kind of rule and get caught you are screwed in a thousand ways. |

People can and have been sued over it all they can say is your start date and end date anything other than that you can get into a lot of trouble. As for carrying when you are not supposed to, I would suggest against it. Your job isnt worth it, especially if you cant afford it. Is your job worth carrying a gun? |

I researched the issues with my AP manager due to customers open carrying. For customers: concealed carry is okay, just don't do stupid shit i.e. whipping that shit out and shooting the ceiling Open carry is dependent on the store manager per corporate. My store manager okay'd it though it pissed some anti's off. I encouraged it. For employees: carrying any weapon is prohibited and grounds for dismissal. Having it in your car is also expressly forbidden unless you're in a state that gives you protection. Many employees admitted to me to having guns in their car. I lived in KY and employers could not ban weapons in the car on their property. Get on the wire and look up the rules, it's in there. The states that are excepted to the parking lot rule are listed in there as well. The rules do not reflect how customers may carry, that was the answer from corporate legal department when my manager called and I listened in. Hope this helps. |

Oh, and I carried concealed at Walmart probably 50% of the time I worked there.
Somehow everytime I helped at the sporting goods counter I swear I was carrying. Maybe there was a time or two I wasn't. Ironic I guess. I had one black guy that looked like Ice-T with a fucking ID holder around his neck with his CCDW in it. I chuckled to myself. I thought about saying something but I figured different strokes for different folks. Would anyone glancing know what it was... probably not. I didn't see a weapon but wearing baggy clothes does wonders. I forget what ammo I got for him. .380 or 9 I suspect. |

Well thats great. Negative on talking weapons. I talked guns with most all my managers and many employees. A bunch were stupid but one had a fucking room full of guns. He bought a crate of mosins because his friend dealer got some in and couldn't pass on it. Oh, I carried my 1911 many, many times. I carried my M&P9c after I got it. I carried my S&W J-frame after I got it. |
