as a recent CCW holder I am looking for a flashlight for everyday carry.  I have been to Candlepower forums, and have gotten some good info, I wanted to see what "gun guys" thought would be a good choice

so

what should I look for/buy

The Surefire Executive Defender

Go with the E2D or an Aviator.  Aviator is good for low light navigation/map reading since it has LEDs as well.

How do you like that T1?  It is one of the light I am considering

Do you think it has enough "light throw" to illuminate/ID targets to 20 meters?

fenix is a rising trend

personally, i stick w/ surefire (aviator, 6P, G2, Ex, etc) and innova (X03)

my most used ones are modified G2s--std G2s w/ the Dxtrema $10 LED upgrade--WAY brighter, more durable, and longer lasting batts

I have gotten into the habit of carrying two lights after dark. I have a Surefire E1E that I carry all the time, it serves a utility purpose and I don't worry about the batteries using it as such.

After dark, I add a E2E to go along with the E1E.  I try to never use the E2E so I know the batteries will be fresh if I need it.  In fact, I did really need it once and the batteries didn't last as long as I needed them for.  It sure would have been nice if it had brand spankin' new batteries in it that night and a spare light in my pocket just in case.

For  an EDC I want a compact, lightweight, dual output and long running light with a pocket clip . I have one of the L1's that just recently came out and have a E1B in the mail that I am really looking foward to recieving. I hvae had the L1 for almost 3 months now and am still on the same battery!   When the new P61L comes out I am going to get one for my 6P that I carry in my coat pocket, it used to be my EDC light.  Contact Brighflashlights for more reccomendations.

The L1 is 10 lumens on Low and 65 on High
The E1B is 5 lumens on Low and 80 on High

That sounds perfect.  I wish my low was a little lower, and a brighter high is always better

I might just have to sell my L1 now

I was thinking the same thing originally.  As small and lightweight as they are I actually carry both.  The E1b is High output first then click through within 2 seconds to go to low.

Also curious about the upgrade, myself.  I've been looking at the G2 and see there's a big price difference between the standard G2 and the G2 LED.  Is it better to just get the standard G2 and add a $10 (or other) LED upgrade?  Sorry, I don't know much about tactical lights, yet.

i'll say it again.....

under 60.00 shipped with rechargeable 3.6v batteries

best bang for the busk on an everyday carry light. 150lm multiple modes, ability to run off regular aa batteries, double oring sealed and hard anodized. small enough to be easily carried everyday and cheap enough to not cry if it's lost.

yes, frankly i'd bypass the g2 altogehter now. there are better, brighter lights for cheaper now.

Personally I prefer Surefire E2e to the E2d.  The bezel on the E2d just proved more of a inconveince for me by getting hung up on clothes.

I thought the same thing?

The Defender Type Bezel looks WICKED

Im looking for a B-day Gift for myself

Looking at Surefire since Ive used them for Many years now.

The L5 maybe or L2 ?

No wait the  U2 !!

Pentagon Light makes a flashlight called the K2, it has a retractable bezzle on it so it doesnt get caught on clothing.  I had a guy demonstrate it at the SHOT show, it was pretty cool.  I havent played with the "defenders" from surefire, but have always liked the idea of having the bezzle on them.  I have owned 3 G2s (gave one as a gift) and now have the G2 led which i like a lot.

NOVATAC OWNS ALL!!!

I've had the EDC-P version for 6 months now and the thing is unbelieveable.

120 lumens
1x123 batt
waterproof to a fairly significant depth
batt lasts months with normal (frequent) use
tons of functions
bulletproof build
[more good stuff that I'm forgetting]
only cost $120

My weaponlights are still Surefire but this blows away anything they offer for EDC.

Any good concealable holsters for a Z2 (or 6p size bezel) for lens-down carry?  I just got a comp-tac light carrier to match my gun holster but it doesn't hold the light very close to the body.

I gotta disagree here, unless the surefire has a shockisolated bezel you'll break bulbs all too often.   I've broken two bulbs in a new G2, I used 4 batteries in those two bulbs.  One time it just stopped working; the other it dropped 2.5 feet off my dresser onto my carpet floor.

I use a Pentagon L2 and love it, Streamlight TLR-1 for the glock.

I used to keep a G2 handy.
Last weekend I took a low light/night time defensive course.
The very next day I had a Z2 with a thumb ring on it.

Many good light choices mentioned here, but after taking a class where you actually had to train and use the light and weapon....a thumb ring or lanyard is imperative.
Don't believe me, try running with a a light not having one, in the dark and reloading on the move.  It made a believer out of me.
