Using a Caspian Basic .45 frame, Ithica slide, and new GI parts, will a Colt New Roll Mark Series 70 1911 .45 ACP barrel and bushing work with my frame/slide combination?

It will work if you 'smith it enough. It may drop in and work, or it may need to be either trimmed, or built up then fit. You can't predict until you try to put it together and then test the timing and lock-up.

In other areas, this may be your problem. You have a high-quality frame, slide, and barrel, but now you are using generic parts of unknown quality. Get some caspian parts or parts from another reputable maker that will be held to to tighter tolerances and compatible with your other components. This is not the place to try to save $20 or so. |
