Yesterday I impulse purchased a Centurion 14 from Grabagun for less than $400 shipped. I've already bought a few magazines from Greg Cote LLC, and the magazine disconnect will be removed before I take it to my backyard range. Are there any owners out there who can recommend upgrades specific to the C14? All of these Turkish BHP clones seem to have little quirks or differences specific to the manufacturer. I'm not looking to just throw parts at this pistol, but would consider upgrading if there is a tangible benefit. Any observations or advice relating to the C14 would be appreciated! ETA: Since I'm removing the magazine disconnector, are there any parts worth replacing while I'm at it? |

I bought the Girsan MC P35 in Sept. of 2023 for $400. I had a 60’s era Hi Power with the ring hammer, small sights and safety. I didn’t mind the trigger even though it still had the magazine disconnect safety. I disliked the safety and sights plus the accuracy was worse than any 1911 I ever shot. I wanted a shooter and had been watching prices. When I saw the Girsan MC P35 for $400 I bought it. I removed the magazine safety and the trigger is now plenty shootable. I like the ambidextrous safety and the sights. The Girsan is a copy of a Browning Mark III so the Girsan has the firing pin block safety. I don’t like the looks of the ramped front sight but works really well for me shooting this pistol. Honestly as long as you like the Centurion 14 sights and safety my suggestion is buy ammo and just shoot it. I started shooting when I was fifteen or sixteen before trigger reset was a thing. The trigger reset on my MC P35 might not be as tactile or audible as my 1911’s but it doesn’t affect my ability to shoot my P35. My MC P35 is a range toy but if I needed to use it for defense I’d have no hesitation as mine has been 100% reliable. I still like the looks of the Inglis L9A1 and if I catch it on sale I might buy one. Grisan MC P35 Black Cerakote  |

Finally got the Centurion 14 home the other day. I tried the trigger right out of the box and it was so bad I didn't bother checking it with the scale. The magazine disconnect was pretty easy to remove, and afterward the trigger pull gauged about 6#. I ran a box of old 124 grain Freedom Munitions FMJ through it, and it ran like a top. I've been dry firing it occasionally and the trigger pull is now a crisp and consistent 5.5# which I'm happy with. For $400, this is a great little pistol. My first pistol was an Argentine FM clone which I bought back in the late 90s and foolishly sold a few years later. I think the C14 will scratch my BHP itch nicely. |

Usually extractor springs on the HP clones are straight up garbage and are too light. I would definitely put a Wolff or Browning extractor spring in it. Otherwise I would just see how it runs and go from there before replacing a bunch of stuff. The mag disconnectors are a wild card on clones. I have a few FEGs, and one of them has an amazing trigger pull even with the mag disconnect intact. The other two I have were unbelievably awful with the mag disconnect installed, and a pain to remove mags with the slide locked backed. So I removed the mag disconnectors on those two and it improved things dramatically. |
