I am thinking of getting this finish applied to one of my 1911's.

I would like to hear some opinions before I commit.

It's not a super finish, but it's better than parkerizing.  It's a middle finish that costs a middle price, if you want to re-finish a gun for $150 or less, some version of the Kote product is probably your best bet.  If you can spring for more, melonite or Ionbond would be better.

It looks pretty nice if it's well applied.  It has a reputation for being pretty resistance to abuse.  2009 Dan Wesson Valors have this finish.  It's not going to be as tough as Melonite or DLC Ionbond.
