Hi guys

I have never had a gun cerakoted before but I know it is real popular.

I am thinking of having the frame on one of my Sigs cerakoted. There is a local company that does it.

The guy who does the work told me that they strip the frame down and remove the anodizing before cerakoting. Does that sound correct? As I understand it most companies leave the anodizing on aluminum frames because it gives it strength and the removal process can soften/weaken them. Or is that incorrect?

The rest of the gun I plan to send back to the factory for restoration and action enhancement. I'll have to call Sig to verify that it does not void the factory warranty.

They blast through to prep the surface to allow the cerakote to "bite" in more.
