Hello, i was wondering about chambering a round multiple times. Are there any negatives to this? I have heard things from "I never chamber a round more than once" to "it doesnt matter how many times you chamber it." My guess is that chambering a round multiple times will cause a bullet setback. I am not sure though. The main reason i ask is when CCW. For whatever reason, there are times where i will chamber a round and then unchamber it. The last thing i want happening is any kind of problem when CCW. What is your opinion on chambering a round multiple times? How many times before you fire or switch the round? Thanks in advance.

I don't have any defiant answer for you. I rotate the top round in the mag and the chambered round. I have my duty weapon looked at from time to time. I have been doing this for a few years and never had any problems.

Different calibers are more susceptible to it, like .357 Sig. Hold up the chambered round next to a fresh one to see if there has been setback. If so, do not fire it.

Either way, you should cycle through your carry ammo about every 6 months, IMO.

mcnielsen is right. About the only ammo I would "not" be too concerned with, is with ammo that has had been crimped at the bullet base of the casing.
