Would the safety from a USPf 45 fit into a USPc 40? And if so, can I take the right handed safety from the 45, put it in the compact 40, and vice versa? Externally, the safeties look the same. If all this is, in fact, possible, can someone explain how to do it. Unless it is a difficult undertaking, I am pretty confident I can take care if it. Thanks! |

I would like to convert my variant 2 USP to variant 10 (Left hand decock to LH da/sa/cocked and locked), what parts would I need to do this and is this essentially the same job? also, it has a bobbed hammer, is there any place to pick up a standard hammer? Thanks |

Well, the safety levers are a little different. The one on the full size is fatter in its width. this didnt, however, stop me from trying to take it all apart. the directions on the site were helpful, but they never actually went over taking the safety all the way out. Anyhow, I got the trigger bar detent out just fine, but when I was trying to put it back, it popped out of my tweezers and went flying! Sooooo, where can I order another, and get a full size, left handed safety to put this gun back together? ![]() ![]() |
You can get both from Numrich (www.e-gunparts.com.) For the control lever, Cals also sells them. ETA: You shouldn't have had to remove the trigger bar / trigger bar detent to swap the safety. Remove the sear, disconnector, and catch, and then push down on the detent slide (under where the detent plate fits) with a punch and the control lever should slide right out. |

ORinTX thanks for the info, it's appreciated. So just to conifrm, it looks like all I really need to do to convert from Variant 2 to Variant 10, is tap the pin holding the detent plate in, swap the plates out, tap the pin back in place and I'm good to go, right? Also, is it necessary to put a full size USP hammer in the gun when going to cocked and locked? as the current compact hammer is bobbed. THANKS! |
No tapping required. You can push it with a ballpoint pen! You do have to also push the plate down against the spring pressure. That takes another 30 seconds to figure out the first time. |

The hammer swap isn't too hard, but requires a bit more of a detail strip. The streetpro directions will cover how to do it. You have to follow the same steps for the control lever, but also remove the t-bar, spring, detent, and the hammer pivot. Personally, I like the bobbed hammer. Good luck! H&Ks aren't as hard to work on as people claim they are. |
