| Have an older Eclipse Custom II I bought new in 2001 with fading Meprolight night sights. I love this gun and would trust it with my life. It's got the Schwartz safety but was made before the external extractor stupidity. Do I need a sight pusher to change out the sights? I have a bench vise and brass punches. I hear the dovetails are TIGHT on these. Advice? |

Sight pushers are fairly inexpensive - $35 to $40 on Amazon. They won't work with the ease of a $300 model, but if you follow the instructions, and turn them the right way they'll do a decent job.
If you don't use a sight pusher, you'll end up peening the sight. Plus on the Kimber, it's difficult to keep the spring for the firing pin safety in place while you drive the rear sight into the dove tail. If you're installing tritium night sights it's important to use a pusher to avoid the risk of cracking one of the tritium vials. |
| I put Ameriglos on my Kimber Pro Carry 2. Took a punch and a 10 lb sledge hammer. Not really but those were the tighest sights I've ever done. Pusher if you have one available, but you can do it with a punch and hammer. Slide it easy and catch the spring, that part wasn't a problem for me. |
