| I have a V1 on my full size USP now but want to switch to a V9 plate which I believe it will only have the safety and no decocker right? So do I just need the plate? Or have to get other parts as well? Is there any reason why going V1 to V9 wouldn't be a good idea? Thanks guys. |
| I believe you need only the plate, which is out of stock at HKparts right now. As far as safety goes, the only issue would be if you wanted to manually decock the pistol with a live round in the chamber, as opposed to using the decocker. Some don't consider this an issue at all. YMMV. |

All you need is the plate. The "slot" in it does not extend far enough to let the lever move to the decock position.
FWIW if you plan on carrying cocked and locked this is the only way to go. Essentially gives your USP the controls of a 1911. BUT If you plan on carrying hammer down the decocker is the safest option over letting the hammer down manually on a live round, like stated above. IMHO this is not wise. Some switch to the V9 plate because they inadvertently hit the decocker while firing. Ive never had this problem. |
