| I see a local shop has a few of the Undercover models for sale. I havent heard alot about the company but I did hear that they are an American company making firearms in New England. Iam all for spending money on American made firearms but are they worth buying? Any thoughts are welcome. |
| Years ago I had a couple of different Charter Arms revolvers that were good, inexpensive (not cheap), pistols. I had a 3" .44 Spl Bulldog that was a great carry piece, though a little barky and the recoil was a bit stout. Since then, I have been hearing mixed reviews and that the newer made production is not what it once was. My suggestion is that if you know what to look for, check them out and decide if you like what you see. If not, take someone who does know what to look for and let them look at them. |

We get a lot of Charter threads around here. Might want to see what pops up with the search function.
Fit and finish are no where near Smith and Wesson, or even Taurus levels. They are however, mechanically sound, made in the US, and they do not incorporate any sort of ridiculous lawyer lock. Like many firearms companies, they have been in and out of business repeatedly. The original Charters (70's early 80's) were nice guns. The later Charco models had some serious QC issues, the newer Charter 2000 guns were quite a bit better, and the latest Charter marked guns are a little nicer finished than the Charter 2000 versions. |
