Ok, well so far I've gotten a few responses about my recent choice of a Rossi .357 6 shot revolver. Most negative, so lets see what all of you might say about this.

How about a Charter Arms Undercover seen here: www.charterfirearms.com/products/Charter_Undercover_73820.html

Even in the Rossi I would only shoot .38 and have .38+P as a defense round. Without going into a lengthy explenation of my past experiences with revolvers you can see it on this thread:www.ak47.net/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=33&t=51968  So any experiences with Charter Arms?

My brother has a Charter Arms UnderCover. Nice little gun. If you reload a .38 can be really cheap to shoot.

Now for a little history on the little Charter Arms guns. This is the one that was used on John Lennon 25 years ago. NYPD photo.

Er Um interesting history........j/k

Thats an older type, which is what I've heard are better than the newer Charter 2000 types.

Quality has varied through the years, so you won't get a blanket statement from me.
The older ones I have had were fine, just don't remove the cylinder without having a spare nylon washer on hand, as I recall.
Keep in mind, they are not a S&W.

Are the barrel shrouds on the newer ones still pressed or glued on? I had a .44 Bulldog in the mid 90's (after watching Michael Mann's Manhunter) that I had to "reseat" the shroud after every cylinder. It would inch forward under the recoil. Other then that a decent gun, I sold it to a buddy who knew about the problem and wanted it more then I did.

I have the off-duty and it's been a great gun. At 15 ounces (if I remember right) it's amazing how light it feels and it's no more punishing than any of my S&W airweights

Thanks
