How are they working compared to the German and Italian made ones?  The fit and finish of the Checkmates seems alot rougher.

Where did you hear this?  Link?

Why are there two threads about it?

...the only bad thing I have ever heard about Checkmate mags is some improperly Government spec'd M9 magazines...and since the Government spec'd them wrong, I would think that is where the blame would lie...

exactly what was said when the Italian made magazines came out and everyone was upset that their German pistol had cheap junk magazines...and we all know how that turned out...

checkmate mags are the reason people think the M9 sucks in Iraq.

I think the M-9 sucks and not because of the mags. I've been sticking to factory and mec gar in my 226, though I've not tried checkmates in it.

The army cheaped out on mags, and went all checkmate. The only time I ever had issues with my M9 was when using checkmate mags. My Italian Beretta mags functioned flawlessly, and thats all I will say, or this thread will turn into an avalanche of ignorance, bashing the M9.

,,,and the reason (supposedly) that the M9 mags sucked is that the Government spec'd them wrong...once they got the specs right the M9 was supposed to be GTG...is that not so???...(I don't have first hand knowledge and it appears you do...really would like to know...)...and Thanks for your Service...

All I know is that we still have the same checkmate mags in our unit, and as of 2008 (last time I was over seas) they still sucked. I don't know if this applies to all checkmate mags (so this isn't completely off topic) but the M9 checkmate mags had a rough parkerizing on the inside of the mags that caused the followers to hang up. You strip the first round out of the mag, and all the others would stay right where they are. If this has been fixed, I have no knowledge of that.

I've got some of the new Sig mags that seem to be the Checkmates.  I've run 250 rounds through each of them on my 226 in 9mm without any issues at all.

For the record, I used issued Checkmates in the M9 for quals when I was on active duty and never suffered any malfunctions.  Maybe I was lucky as I have heard the horror stories, but I never saw evidence of the horror stories first hand.

I have a metric shit ton of the checkmate mags. I don't have the 92 any longer. The ones I used functioned without a hitch. Maybe some day I will replace the Beretta.

the problems really showed up when even a slight amount of dust came into the equation.  A little dust didnt stop my italian mags, but the checkmates choked. I had the strip the mags and clean them every night.

Sorry for the derail, I am not familiar with SIG checkmate mags, but thought that maybe the same would apply and thought the info should be put out.
