Hey everyone, I've been looking into getting an officers size 1911 for awhile now, and ran accross a citadel 1911 compact at a local shop for $480 i believe. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these? All I really have gathered is that they're imported by armscor and made by the same people whom of which make Rock Island Armory. Thanks in advance.

I've had a Citadel full size for a few years and it's been well worth what I paid for it.

Dont have a Citadel, but my RIA officer's has been 100% reliable out of the box. I have about 11 boxes(550 rds.) through it. Mine has surprisingly good ejection pattern, I could almost catch the brass in a 5 gallon bucket, lol. Accurate, but mine has the tiny GI sights. I'd like to get a tactical model with Novak style sights in the future. I believe the Citadel comes with good sights and a nice grip safety?

Ive got a Citadel 5" and have been quite pleased with it. They are essentially a RIA with some cosmetic differences- or at least that used to be the case. Citadel had checkered diamond grips, front serrations, and a slightly different trigger than the CIA Tactical models. Now with the new redesigned RIA Tactical that came out this year they are virtually identical save for the roll marks.

Pretty much all "Officer" models have a greater chance of malfunction than their Full Size counterparts- regardless of make (save for Colt).

They are a good entry level 1911.

I have a citadel CS (the officer sized). Love it. Had to send the barrel in for rethroating as it wouldn't eat all reloads. cost me 2 bucks in shipping and I had it back in 7-10 days. On my second recoil spring, and haven't had any issues of note.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to have to go grab it before someone else does.

Mine is GTG!  I hesitated, and researched, and hesitated, and bought one.  Almost 700 rounds through it, not a single malfunction.  Its a very good pistol for the money.

I saw a Citadel 1911-a1 cs range kit at Cabelas this morning on clearance for under 500. It followed me home.
1911 a1 compact, 3 mags, houge grips and wood grips, black hawk holster, glasses, ear plugs, all in a nice range bag.

I have the RIA officer's.  Reliable, accurate.  Feeds ball, Remington std. HP,  Golden Sabre with no issues.  Recoil is less than I would have
thought with a 3" barrel.
