| I have a M29 with a really nice blued finish. I love shooting it, but cleaning the blast marks off of the cylinder is a pain. Time consuming and hard to do without wearing the finish. Is there any tricks, tools, cleaning solutions that`ll clean it up better, and faster? |

The only reason for attempting to get all the blast fouling off is cosmetic. That is, you want to shoot the gun, but you want it to look like it hasn't been fired.
This will eventually damage the finish, so the best option is to accept that the gun is used and will have these marks. There are several methods that are LESS harmful. One is to use a good bore solvent and a brass "toothbrush" to soak and scrub the area. The other is to use something like Slip 2000 Carbon Killer. Apply soaked patches to the area and let soak for 10 minutes or so, then brush. Other people will recommend using various abrasives like metal polishes like Flitz, or pencil erasers. All of these will eventually remove the bluing. Fact is, if you fire a blued gun there's no way to remove all the staining without stripping the finish. |
