What is the best/easiest way to get the black fire rings off of the front of the cylinder? The rings are on stainless relvolvers, the rings on a blued revolver can hardly be seen but on a stainless revolver they are very noticable and I dont like them they make te gun look dirty. Is there any way to saftely remove these rings and show just the cylinder metal. Thanks in advance. This is post 454 and I just picked up my Taurus 454 casull today thats kinda cool. |

The easiest and least risky is to buy a "Lead Away" type cloth at the gun shop. This is a waxy-feeling yellow cloth that very quickly removes leading and carbon from guns. The cloth can be cut into patches and used to remove lead from bores and cylinders. WARNING: DO NOT use these cloths on BLUED guns. These will strip the bluing RIGHT OFF. They're intended ONLY for stainless guns. |

The best way I know to clean a stainless wheelgun is to spray it down with Ballistol, let it soak for about 15 minutes, then patch it out and wipe it down... Then, I do like faris suggested - wipe away anything else with a leadaway cloth - those things are great!!! My stainless wheelguns still look like new after many, MANY rounds... A leadway cloth cut to cleaning patch size can be used to remove lead from a bore/cylinders, too... - georgestrings |
