Bought new Colt Series 70 that ejects brass into my forehead with light target rounds. I switched to lighter recoil spring (12 lb) but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

Does it do so with 230gr ball? If not where does it eject those casings?

Last time out I shot 230 grain FMJ & JHP. All of these rounds were pretty tame - cheap RMC 230 FMJ and a Czech import 230 JHP. They cycled OK but some of the brass was slightly crushed at the top of the casings.

Sounds like your extractor is over tensioned.

Thanks for the advice. By over-tensioned I assume that I can correct by bending extractor slightly away from indention that grasps the rim of the casing? I'll give it a try!
