Thanks.

Here's the contact info from Colt's web site.  They discuss mostly engraving, but Colt will usually do anything you want and can pay for that's safe to do.

Note the link on the left for performance work.

Since there are so many options on a number of models, and prices change so much, Colt doesn't list prices or most services.  You just have to talk to them and tell them what you want.
Since this is custom work, prices will be high, but competitive with other top custom shops.

While I'm sure you'll manage to find some people who'll complain about bad work from the Custom Shop, Colt has an excellent reputation for top of the line work, and a genuine Colt Custom Shop job increases the value of the gun.

If you have work done, save the original box and paperwork that comes with it.  Since Colt doesn't mark Custom Shop guns, that's the proof it was a factory job.
If you buy the gun from Colt and have them do the work, the Colt Archives will list it as a Custom Shop gun.  If you buy the gun locally and send it in, Colt doesn't keep any records on the work.

I've heard you can give them a call and they will send you a free catalog that has the custom shop price lists.

so a couple of odd things when I called them.

They will only use colt parts. Not a big deal, but if you want something odd like convert a 38 super gun to 9mm, then they say they can't do it unless you track down an original colt 9mm barrel.

second, they didn't actually quote a final price, rather we charge 90 dollars an hour labor, and that should take 2 hours. Something like that for fitting.

They didn't seem out of line, but depending on what you want done, there may be issues.

That is why I'd call Springfield Armory's Custom Shop, or a well known gunsmith.
