I normally don't like aluminum frame 1911's , but I am thinking about getting a Colt Defender.  What you all think about this gun? Any bad experiences?

I had one in .45 and I loved it.  I got rid of it when I was bored and wanted something else.  Wish I had it back.  Shot great.

Never owned one and I'm not a big fan of aluminum frames either but if I were going to get an aluminum frame 1911 that would be the one I'd get.

I have one and love it! The LW frame and form factor make for a great carry piece and more accurate than you might think.

Great experiences with the couple I've owned. I'll have another when the money is right!

I have a Colt Defender Plus and just got a Colt New Agent- my new carry gun. I really like the way they carry-weight wise and haven't has any problems with either one. I do recommend using good quality mags with skirted followers so you won't "scar up" your feed ramp on you frame.

I have one,
its been great no problems at all.
It does throw brass back at me, but with no problems in over 1k rounds I don't want to mess with it

For a number years have only used full size and 7" long slide

This year for carry have switched to the Defender, it's light weight however it kicks more than a full size all steel gun

I love mine except for the grip safety.

Love mine, zero problems, light enough for comfortable EDC and shoots great. I feel its one of if not the best choice in a compact 1911.

I had one as well; very nifty little .45, but traded it for a Combat Commander because I wanted something slightly better fitting.

I do have an almost new Galco Royal Guard holster for it somewhere in the house. Too bad it doesn't fit my CC.

I traded the Defender...

For a Pre Series 80 Combat Commander.
