My boyfriend showed me a few handguns recently since he's been looking for something to carry around with him offside his glock and what not that he could fit in his pocket. As he was showing me pics, I saw the Colt Mustang. Pretty little thing. Might want to get one for myself actually. But I'd like some opinions about it first if any of you ARFCOM folks have one. Does it shoot good? Any problems? So on so forth. Thanks in advance!
Update: I probably should have scrolled down further and posted this under the Colt thread. |
| I had a PocketLite version, and it was the most accurate of 5 or so of friends that I tried...I did not like the fact that the safety blocked the hammer and not the sear...when the safety was taken "off safe", the hammer would "fall" to be caught by the sear...I've shot enough USPSA style competition with cocked and locked 1911's to know that crap happens to mechanical devices....I carried the PocketLite without a round in the chamber...which severely limited its utility .... I currently carry an LCP |

went with the 238 instead mostly due to cost.
499 got me a new one with hogue grips, laser and night sites, just a little before the december thing. colts were almost 200 more. most parts interchange, but the lock up is slightly different. same idea, just executed a little different. both should shoot about the same. very little recoil comparied to other 380's. |

Went with a P238 blackwood, then the P238 SAS. Didn't care for the Mustang personally as the Sigs are an improvement on the Mustang design. Kimber has a micro carry in .380 coming out this year also.
SIg's sights are nice and useable from the 50 yard line and come with factory night sights. Bad things happen at night, so a carry gun should have tritium. |

I don't think thats fair As far as "improvements" more like "differences" It would be nice if the mustang had dovetail sights but that's not the be all and end all of pocket pistols there are certainly pros and cons of lower profile v full size sights. |

I would prefer the lower profile mustang sights. The sights that SIg is using, especially the night sights, which seem to be more common, are very chunky. |

I had big plans to send my mustang to Novak to get night sights but after shooting and carrying it for a couple months now i like it. i am decent with the standard sights and it draws a better than my wife's p238 as im only using it for deep concealment or back up i am very comfortable with it. |

Point shooting for up close is fine in the day time and stationary. Shoot it in near dark to complete darkness at say 10-20 yds on the move. Let us know how you do.
I have owned Colts, but no fan boy. Sig looked at the 30+ year design of the Mustang variants and modernized it and the mags. No more dual spring within a spring design, improved dove tailed sights, night sights, more variants, etc. Pay more for the pony. Your money, your choice. More rounds downrange and you'll know if you made the right choice. |

I'll just keep carrying my Glock 19 |

Springs and dovetails are just different. If the sig has any true advantages .... The sig or at least some models of it cost less The sig has an option for ambi safety |

I have to maximize concealability because I don't have the ability to say "it's ok, I'm a cop". So the sights would go to no-snag low profile on mine. Yes I will run if aggressor is out of practical range. Agree that it is much more than a pocket pistol. The locking system is very good for accuracy and velocity. |
