I'm in the market for a Colt New Agent. The only thing that is making me hesitate is the grips. I'm not a fan of wood grips, I never have been. I've been looking for some rubber slimline grips and I can't find any that will fit on an officers frame. Any help with this? As it stands if I can't find any rubber slimline grips I will probably go for the slim Alumagrips for it. The wrap-arounds that come on the Defender are too large btw. |

FWIW, I have never found rubber grips worth the hassle on a CCW. They can stick to clothing in a stress-induced draw And unless thet are removed EVERY TIME solvent will somehow come in contact with them eventually, making the surface feel like there is maple syrup slathered on the grips.
why not a synthetic like Micarta if you dislike wood? |

A few reasons for rubber.
I have Hogue slimline grips on my full size 1911 which I carry on occasion. I just really like how they feel in my hand. Honestly I have no experience with any other grips made out of other synthetics and at 50+ bucks a pop it's cost prohibitive to experiment. I checked out VZ grips and they have Compact grips but I don't know if they are slimline as they don't specify like they do with the full frame grips. |
