What 1911 frames will work with an older Colt Service Ace Slide?
Looks like this:

I believe all the conversion kits were made for the 70 series and older, so an 80 series frame will not work unless you remove the plunger arm.

Would anyone have a recommendation for a receiver to use?

They're not very accurate so overdoing it on an expensive tightly fit lower doesn't make much sense.

Get a "blemished" stainless steel frame from Foster Industries/Caspian.

Build it out with a cylinder & slide trigger pull kit, adding additional parts that fit your budget for the build.

All the Foster frames I have received are pretty damn nice. Usually the blemish is a machine mark or chatter on the side of the trigger guard. Out of 5 or 6 I have not received any with the voids in the casting that they show on their site.

Actually the cheapest and easiest route is to buy a complete rock island gi and just put the conversion on. Cheaper and easier than building from scratch
